2ND TRIP TO EMMERDALE COUNTRY MAY 8-11 1999
Travel agency Matkatoimisto Maija-Liisa Lahtinen in Finland with Travel Team in England organized also this second trip for a Finnish TV Magazine Katso. Again Heini Mäkiaho was the reporter.
Again I'd made questions for a quiz on MTV3, and this time the winner was Meeri from Jyväskylä, who was to be my roommate. There were people from all over Finland, and some had either not slept at all or had a very early start by coach or train to catch our morning flight.
I met the group at the airport and on board the plane started going round and getting to know people. About twenty people is a size of a school class and that I can more or less manage with my classroom experience.
I do need to see the name and the face, so I always come prepared with prewritten names on masking tape, which I then put on people to be taken away once I've remembered their names. Also I try to call people by their names ever so often when I walk about in the plane giving out books, photos and leaflets both about Emmerdale and about the other places we're going to see. And before too long I remember almost everybody.
There was a last minute chance in our schedule. This time we didn't go to Chatsworth House first, but headed straight on to the Emmerdale studios. There had been a change of schedule in filming (Paul Loughran alias Butch Dingle had a very sore throat) and Emmerdale was being filmed on Sunday and the studio tours were on Saturday. Instead of Chatsworth House we now went to Castle Howard on Monday, as it was nearer to York, where we stayed this time.
Again England welcomed us with sunshine and although there were showers during
our stay, it never rained on us, apart from during shopping in York. Heavens
smile when angels travel...
