On Saturday, an assistant director at Emmerdale, Val Lawson gave an entertainin and exciting presentation about her work.

I really miss not having brought a recorder, as Val's talk was so full of all interesting details, that I am afraid to have forgotten.

It is Val, who makes sure everybody is where they are supposed to be and when, to ensure pickups for those cast members, who need it, and to tries to keep all the strings in her hands.

You can imagine what happens, if somebody falls ill, so many things need to be reorganized - a complete domino effect.

Val also told us about the children in Emmerdale. The young "actor" who playedi Kim's son James, cried a lot, so instead of letting him "spoil" scenes, the writers started writing him scenes that went "James cries..."

But the little girl who plays Sugden's Victoria is so brilliant that she even remembers her stage brothers' lines. Now she's given a lot more lines herself.
